Cloves are the aromatic, dried, unopened flower buds of the Syzygium aromaticum tree, an evergreen in the Myrtaceae family native to Indonesia. Known for their intense, warm, and sweet-spicy flavor, they contain high levels (85%+) of the compound eugenol. They are used globally in cooking, medicine, and personal care products.
