Known for its distinctive aroma, flavour and fluffy texture, Basmati rice is an important part of Indian, South Asian as well as Middle Eastern cuisine. The long grains stretch even longer when cooked and don’t clump together. Basmati rice is exclusively grown in the Indian states of Punjab, Haryana, Western U.P, Himchal Pradhesh and Uttarakhand. The Govt of India thus recognized this by providing it with GI (Geographical Indication) tag.
